Bray solutions for

Power Plants

Power plants are fundamental to modern society, delivering power to meet the worlds electrical needs. Power plants searching for efficiency gains push operating temperatures and pressures ever-higher, placing enormous demands on valves, actuators and accessories that must operate continuously, making reliable and low-maintenance valves critical to power plant operations. Bray manufactures a comprehensive range of high quality, high reliability valves, actuators, and accessories for a wide variety of applications, engineered to deliver the reliability and uptime in today’s power plants and tomorrows emerging technology. Our global team of experts understand the power industry and are ready and available to assist you in existing power plant turnarounds, MRO, new construction for applications including but not limited to:
  • Conventional Power Plants

  • Combined Cycle Power Plants

  • Cogeneration

  • Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

  • Nuclear Power Plant (BOP)

  • Balance of Plant

  • Geothermal Power

  • Non-Conventional Power Generation

  • Waste to Energy (WtE)

Bray solutions for

Conventional Power

Conventional power plants utilizing fossil fuels to heat water into steam and use the superheated steam to turn a turbine and generate electricity. Conventional power plants use thousands of valves and actuators operating at subcritical, and sometimes supercritical temperatures for efficiency gains. Higher temperatures and pressures put increased demands on materials and engineering. Trust Bray to deliver reliable solutions for conventional power generation plant applications including but not limited to:
  • Natural Gas Supply

  • Boiler Feedwater

  • Main Boiler Drain

  • Main Stream Supply & Bypass

  • Superheater Vents & Drains

  • Superheater Spray

  • Turbine Drains & Vents

  • Fly Ash & Soot blower

  • Economizer Header Drains

  • Hot Reheat Sprayer

  • Emergency Shutdown Valve

  • Emergency Block Valves (EBV)

Cogeneration
Combined Cycle

Bray solutions for

Combined Cycle

Combined cycle power plants operate at higher efficiency than conventional power plants by utilizing the waste heat produced from a primary gas turbine power generation system in a heat recovery steam generator unit. The steam produced in the unit passes through a secondary steam turbine to produce additional electricity. Like conventional plant applications combined cycle power plants normally operate at supercritical and sometimes ultra-supercritical temperatures, requiring valves and actuators engineered for severe service along with valves intended for Balance of Plant operations. Bray produces a full line of valves, actuators and accessories that are engineered for reliable service in the harshest conditions.

Bray solutions for

Nuclear Power

An operating Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) or Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear power plant can have over 10,000 valves per operating unit. Bray manufactures and supports all Non-Safety Related (NSR) balance of plant (BOP) applications in today’s operating nuclear power plants.  Choose Bray and our global expertise in flow control solutions for nuclear power generation applications, engineered for the most demanding applications.

Cogeneration

Bray solutions for

Cogeneration

Cogeneration or combined heat and power (CHP) is a power plant that generates both electricity and useful heat.  Cogeneration is used in chemical plants, oil refineries, pulp & paper mills, sugar, and alcohol (especially sugarcane bagasse) and other industries. Cogeneration plants use a wide variety of fuels. In the case of Sugar production, sugar cane stalks are burned as biofuel in a furnace. Regardless of the fuel source, all Cogeneration plants heat water in a boiler to generate steam to power a turbine and use the heat generated for the manufacturing process. Bray is a trusted source of valves, actuators, and accessories to virtually every industry utilizing cogeneration plants across the globe.

Bray solutions for

Geothermal

Geothermal power, including; Conventional hydrothermal resources, enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), Super-hot-rock geothermal and Advanced geothermal systems (AGS) are a renewable energy source. Geothermal systems operate at extreme temperatures with dry steam, flash steam and binary cycle applications and often in the presence of mineral content. Scaling and corrosion are two of the most common problems in Geothermal power. Bray's valves are engineered for applications involving scaling, corrosion, and high temperature, providing you with reliable service in geothermal power generation applications.

Certified and Trusted

By thousands of companies worldwide

To meet ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code requirements, Bray valves comply with ASME B16.34 and have been assessed and certified by multiple global certification authorities such as Lloyd’s, DNV, and UL. For prevention of water damage to steam turbines used in fossil-fuel-fired electrical power generation, ASME’s TDP-1 is considered in the design of critical severe service ball valves.
