In einer Zuckerfabrik wird der Rohsaft aus dem Mahlwerk durch einen  Karbonisierungsprozess gereinigt und getrennt. Dem Rohsaft wird Kalkmilch  zugesetzt, um nicht zuckerhaltige Verunreinigungen zu entfernen, bevor der Saft in  Erhitzer und Klärbecken geleitet wird.
